Off the beaten track, September 2011

"I go to nature to be soothed & healed, and to have my senses put
in order." John Borroughs
@ Penang Botanic Garden.
This place is usually crowded earlier in the morning and later in the evening.
One could never run out of things to photograph here.
A wide variety of flowers are found in the garden. But they are not the
focus of this trip so I just shot a few along the way to hidden lily pond.
My main purpose for coming here was to have some solitude and also
to indulge in one of my favourite pastime, photography.
One of the brook near the lily pond.
I decided to go off the beaten track...
and explore a little bit.
I followed a brook upstream, deeper and deeper into the lush rainforest.
The brook becomes a stream when it rains so I have to constantly keep tab
on the weather.
There is pleasure in the pathless woods but one risk getting lost.
I wasn't that adventurous so I didn't wandered off from the brook.
I decided to stopped here and turned back but I will return to explored
further on another day.
Vine in a knot.
On of the many insects I came across, a Damselfly.
This was captured on an earlier trip.
Malaysian giant ant, Camponotus gigas. These fellas are BIG..
Pill millipede, Glomeris connexa.
Tiny hitchhiker.
My 18-55mm kit lens are not meant for capturing macro images so I was
unable to capture much details.
"The human spirit needs places where nature has not yet been rearranged
by the hand of man."
